How to get the Quick Create button working on UCI in Dynamics 365 CRM

Introduction

In this blog, we will learn how to work with Quick Create button in UCI application.

Quick Create option allows user to quickly and easily create Contacts, Accounts and other types of entities. Quick Create saves time by allowing users to fill in the most important fields for the specified record they are creating. If required, user can return to the record and fill in further details later.

Scenario

We created UCI application, in which we included all the custom entities. Then we opened the application and tried to click on the Quick Create button. But it was not providing any option to quick create record for any entities. For example, in the below screenshot under the Quick Create button, since I don’t have any entities, it is not showing any entities in my app after clicking on Quick Create button:

This is something to keep in mind, though. If you are expecting Quick Create forms to show up in your application at all, you need to add corresponding entities and forms to the application which are allowed for Quick Create. Although, you don’t have to add those entities to the sitemap. This applies to the activity entities, too.

Hence, I added contact entity in my app. After this when I tried to open a Quick Create form it gave me an option to do so. So now let’s see how to add entity in your application:

Next step is to click on save and publish to reflect the changes. After clicking on save and publish navigate to UCI app and check whether Contact entity is showing up for Quick Create form or not.

So, here we go:

You can see that after clicking on Quick Create button, Contact entity shows up. So now we can create record quickly without navigating to the Contact entity.

Conclusion

Just add entities in your UCI application and click on Quick Create button which will swiftly help you to create quick records.
