SharePoint Security Sync is developed keeping in mind the need for document and data security in SharePoint. In a way it assures same level of security for documents and records stored in SharePoint that is provided in Dynamics 365 CRM.

So what is SharePoint Security Sync?
The answer is in the name itself. SharePoint Security Sync is our productivity app which syncs Dynamics 365 CRM security model with that of SharePoint. It ensures the user has same level of security or access to data in SharePoint that is assigned to them in Dynamics 365 CRM. Further, any changes or modification in security privileges in Dynamics 365 CRM will be synced to SharePoint simultaneously.

Now what prompted us to develop such an app for Dynamics 365 CRM?
Well, it can be rightfully said that Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 CRM is one of the leading CRM systems in market today. So combined with SharePoint, it provides great document management features which appeals to great many organizations around the world.
But now comes the issue of security privileges/permissions between Dynamics 365 CRM and SharePoint.
There is a significant difference between the security models of Dynamics 365 CRM and SharePoint. The level of security to access various records in Dynamics 365 CRM and SharePoint is not the same. This means that the documents or attachments stored in SharePoint is accessible to users without any restrictions. Once moved from Dynamics 365 CRM to SharePoint they are free for all.
So imagine, you have documents related to Quotes, Contracts, Opportunities, etc. in your Dynamics 365 CRM system that is only available to selected few higher authorities in your organization. And you moved those to SharePoint for document storage and management. In a flash all those documents with restricted access becomes available to pretty much everyone in SharePoint. This is a major security crisis.
