So, to achieve this, we created a custom entity and developed the OOB workflow to create a custom entity record and Send an email to the owner.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">First, we created a custom entity <strong><em>\u2018Opportunity Status History\u2019<\/em><\/strong> with the below-mentioned fields;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>1. Opportunity Lookup<\/strong> (to maintain 1:N relationship between <em>Opportunity<\/em> and <em>Opportunity Status History<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>2. Approver<\/strong> (User Lookup)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>3. Approved On<\/strong> (Date Time Field)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>4. Status <\/strong>(Option Set)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <em>Status<\/em> field is an <em>Option Set<\/em>. We created two fields for the <strong><em>Opportunity<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Opportunity Status History<\/em><\/strong> entity with the same Options respectively as shown in the below screenshot;<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Status Field on Opportunity Entity:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Setting-Value-for-Option-Set-in-OOB-Workflow-in-Dynamics-3651.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6114 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Setting-Value-for-Option-Set-in-OOB-Workflow-in-Dynamics-3651.png\" alt=\"TIP: Setting Value for Option Set in OOB Workflow in Dynamics 365\" width=\"749\" height=\"414\" \/><\/a><strong>Status Field on Opportunity Status History:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Setting-Value-for-Option-Set-in-OOB-Workflow-in-Dynamics-3652.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6115 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Setting-Value-for-Option-Set-in-OOB-Workflow-in-Dynamics-3652.png\" alt=\"Setting Value for Option Set in OOB Workflow in Dynamics 365\" width=\"741\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a>We developed an OOB workflow that will create an <em>\u2018<strong>Opportunity Status History<\/strong>\u2019<\/em> record. However, we were facing an issue while setting the value to the <strong><em>Status Option set<\/em><\/strong> field using OOB workflow attributes. The attribute drop-down is null even if both the fields have the same option set values as seen in the screenshot below;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Setting-Value-for-Option-Set-in-OOB-Workflow-in-Dynamics-3653.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6116 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Setting-Value-for-Option-Set-in-OOB-Workflow-in-Dynamics-3653.png\" alt=\"Setting Value for Option Set in OOB Workflow in Dynamics 365\" width=\"744\" height=\"301\" \/><\/a>To resolve this issue we created a Global Option Set field for the Status field in Dynamics CRM as seen in the screenshot below;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Setting-Value-for-Option-Set-in-OOB-Workflow-in-Dynamics-3654.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6117 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Setting-Value-for-Option-Set-in-OOB-Workflow-in-Dynamics-3654.png\" alt=\"Setting Value for Option Set in OOB Workflow in Dynamics 365\" width=\"739\" height=\"341\" \/><\/a>Then we deleted the existing status fields from the <strong><em>Opportunity<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Opportunity Status History<\/em><\/strong> entity and created new fields using the Global Option set for the both entity as shown in the screenshot below;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Setting-Value-for-Option-Set-in-OOB-Workflow-in-Dynamics-3655.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6118 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Setting-Value-for-Option-Set-in-OOB-Workflow-in-Dynamics-3655.png\" alt=\"Setting Value for Option Set in OOB Workflow in Dynamics 365\" width=\"752\" height=\"499\" \/><\/a>Now we were able to map the Status field on <strong><em>Opportunity Status History<\/em> <\/strong>entity using OOB workflow attribute<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Setting-Value-for-Option-Set-in-OOB-Workflow-in-Dynamics-3656.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6119 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Setting-Value-for-Option-Set-in-OOB-Workflow-in-Dynamics-3656.png\" alt=\"Setting Value for Option Set in OOB Workflow in Dynamics 365\" width=\"753\" height=\"235\" \/><\/a><strong>Conclusion:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We can only map the Option Set value in OOB workflow if it is Global Option Set and not for the Option Set fields having same values.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.inogic.com\/product\/integrations\/inolink-quickbooks-microsoft-dynamics-crm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6053 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Get-started-with-QuickBooks-and-Dynamics-365-Integration.png\" alt=\"Dynamics CRM QuickBooks Integration\" width=\"820\" height=\"205\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Introduction: Recently we had a business requirement to maintain Opportunity Status change history.
