The plugin provided a visual editor with an easy way to modify the sitemap.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The traditional way of editing Site Map required editing the XML tags that was error prone, and therefore Site Map Editor Plugin from XRM Toolbox was the go-to tool.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With Dynamics 365, Microsoft now has a visual Site Map Designer within the CRM Application.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In this blog, we will cover adding a custom web resource to the Site Map.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Note: Make sure to export the Site Map as a backup before you modify it. It will help with the restore in case the Site Map is broken, and you are locked out of CRM. You can directly navigate to the Customizations area through this URL<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>https:\/\/CRMURL\/ tools\/systemcustomization\/systemcustomization.aspx<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you have Field Service installed, you will notice the following error when saving the changes made.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Dynamics-365-Site-Map-editor-11.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-5865\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Dynamics-365-Site-Map-editor-11.jpg\" alt=\"Dynamics 365 Site Map editor\" width=\"826\" height=\"191\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We have not figured out a way yet to edit and save the site map changes for Field Service<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Walkthrough:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>1<\/strong>. Create a solution and include the Site Map as one of the components along with the webresource that we need to add to the sitemap.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><em>Note: when you try to include Site Map, you will be presented with the pop-up window to select the sitemap to edit.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">With the modules now being shipped as Apps, each of the modules\/apps like Sales, Project Service, Customer Service, and Field Service, come with their own Site Map for navigation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">Selecting Site Map \u2013 will modify the sitemap that is available when you choose the <strong><em>Dynamics 365 \u2013 custom<\/em><\/strong> app<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Dynamics-365-Site-Map-editor-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5859 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Dynamics-365-Site-Map-editor-2.jpg\" alt=\"Dynamics CRM Site Map editor\" width=\"462\" height=\"171\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Dynamics-365-Site-Map-editor-3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5860 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Dynamics-365-Site-Map-editor-3.jpg\" alt=\"Dynamics 365 Site Map editor\" width=\"766\" height=\"185\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>2<\/strong>. Double click on the <strong><em>Site Map<\/em><\/strong> or click the <strong><em>Edit<\/em><\/strong> button on the ribbon bar to open the Site Map designer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Dynamics-365-Site-Map-editor-4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5861 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Dynamics-365-Site-Map-editor-4.jpg\" alt=\"Dynamics 365 Site Map editor\" width=\"772\" height=\"397\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">You can add <strong><em>Custom Area<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Group,<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Subarea<\/em><\/strong> using the highlighted areas as shown in the above screenshot.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0<strong>3<\/strong>. Using the <strong><em>Area<\/em><\/strong>, you can add a new module to the sitemap like Sales, Service, We have added \u2018<strong><em>User Gamification\u2019<\/em><\/strong> as an area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">The <strong><em>Group<\/em><\/strong> option is to add sections under the main navigation area, like My Work, Customers groups that you find in the OOB Sales Area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\">We have added a Group \u2018<strong><em>Inogic License\u2019<\/em><\/strong> under \u2018<strong><em>User Gamification\u2019<\/em><\/strong> area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>4<\/strong>. We will now see how to add the <strong><em>License Details <\/em><\/strong>Subarea under <strong><em>Inogic License<\/em><\/strong>. This will point to a custom webresource when clicked.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Dynamics-365-Site-Map-editor-5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5862 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Dynamics-365-Site-Map-editor-5.jpg\" alt=\"Dynamics 365 Site Map editor\" width=\"756\" height=\"379\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;\"><strong>5<\/strong>.First, select the <strong><em>Inogic License <\/em><\/strong>Group under which we would like to add the subarea.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;\"><strong>6<\/strong>. From the right design bar, drag the <em><strong>Subarea<\/strong><\/em> to the <em><strong>Inogic License<\/strong><\/em> group.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;\"><strong>Change the properties of the subarea to the following<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px; text-align: justify;\"><b>A<\/b>. Set the <strong><em>Type<\/em><\/strong> of subarea as <strong><em>\u2018Web Resource\u2019<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Dynamics-365-Site-Map-editor-6.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5863 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Dynamics-365-Site-Map-editor-6.jpg\" alt=\"Dynamics 365 Site Map editor\" width=\"702\" height=\"269\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><b>B<\/b>. Select the html web resource by its name as it can be seen in the dropdown<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Dynamics-365-Site-Map-editor-7.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5864 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Dynamics-365-Site-Map-editor-7.jpg\" alt=\"Dynamics 365 Site Map editor\" width=\"716\" height=\"310\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><b>C<\/b>. Finally set the <strong><em>Title<\/em><\/strong> you want to be displayed in the navigation bar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">\u00a0You can also expand the <strong><em>Advanced Option<\/em><\/strong> and set the <strong><em>Title<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Description <\/em><\/strong>for other languages to support multi-language deployment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 60px;\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> Subarea supports setting of one of the following<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; padding-left: 90px;\"><strong>a.\u00a0<\/strong>Dashboard<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\"><strong>b.\u00a0<\/strong>Entity<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\"><strong>c.\u00a0<\/strong>Web Resource<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\"><strong>d.\u00a0<\/strong>URL<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><b>D<\/b>. Save and publish the customizations to see the updates in the Site Map.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Conclusion: <\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The built-in sitemap editor now makes it easy using point and click, drag and drop options to modify the sitemap quickly.
