Sometimes it may happen the user may experience missing environment instances while trying to access it from the <a href=\"https:\/\/make.powerapps.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">maker portal<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">admin portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Recently one of our clients reported that the user having the system administrator role was not able to see the Default environment from the admin portal and a few of the environment instances seemed to be missing from both the admin portal and the maker portal.<\/p>\n<p>We started exploring more on it, as they were not sure why they are being restricted from viewing all the environments.<\/p>\n<p>In this blog, we will have a walkthrough of the findings that we came up with while troubleshooting the above scenario.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>User with \u201cGlobal Administrator\u201d role from admin Power Platform:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When we investigated further, \u201cAlex\u201d was the Global Administrator in the client environment and hence he was able to see all the environments from the maker portal as shown below:<\/p>\n<p>The environments present in the organization are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>DEV (default)<\/li>\n<li>DEV1<\/li>\n<li>DEV2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33302\" style=\"border: 1px solid #0a0a0a; padding: 1px; margin: 1px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/5Power-Platform-Environments.jpeg\" alt=\"Power Platform Environments\" width=\"431\" height=\"365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/5Power-Platform-Environments.jpeg 431w, https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/5Power-Platform-Environments-300x254.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 431px) 100vw, 431px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Also, \u201cWilliam\u201d was getting a message saying, \u201cNo environments were found\u201d as shown below when looking from the admin portal:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33297\" style=\"border: 1px solid #0a0a0a; padding: 1px; margin: 1px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/6Power-Platform-Environments-ink.jpeg\" alt=\"Power Platform Environments\" width=\"1436\" height=\"356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/6Power-Platform-Environments-ink.jpeg 1436w, https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/6Power-Platform-Environments-ink-300x74.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/6Power-Platform-Environments-ink-1024x254.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/6Power-Platform-Environments-ink-768x190.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/6Power-Platform-Environments-ink-660x164.jpeg 660w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1436px) 100vw, 1436px\" \/> \u00a0<strong>NOTE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As you can see in the above screenshot, even the Default environment named \u201cDEV (default)\u201d was not displayed in the admin portal.<\/li>\n<li>It took around 15-20 minutes for the intended DEV1 environment to appear in both the admin and maker portal for this user.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Why \u201cDEV (default)\u201d instance is missing?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When we explored more, we found that there are inbuilt roles named the \u201c<strong>Environment admin<\/strong>\u201d role and \u201c<strong>Environment maker<\/strong>\u201d role that provide access to permissions within an environment that are without the Dataverse database. For more details, kindly refer to this <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/power-platform\/admin\/database-security#predefined-security-roles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">doc<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We then quickly assigned the \u201c<strong>Environment admin<\/strong>\u201d role to \u201cWilliam\u201d explicitly, and the moment we assigned that role the default environment named \u201cDEV (default)\u201d immediately started appearing on the admin portal for \u201cWilliam\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Follow below simple steps to assign the \u201cEnvironment admin\u201d role to the user:<\/p>\n<p>Open the default environment [DEV (default)] &gt; In the Access section &gt; under \u201cEnvironment admin\u201d &gt; click on the \u201cSee all\u201d hyperlink as below:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33296\" style=\"border: 1px solid #0a0a0a; in our scenario added \u201cWilliam Lee\u201d by clicking on the \u201c<strong>Add<\/strong>\u201d button further as shown below:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33295\" style=\"border: 1px solid #0a0a0a;
