When configured correctly sales forecasting plays a key role while predicting the overall success of the organization.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Recently, I was configuring sales forecast in Dynamics 365 trial 2022 wave1 enabled environment. There I came across many enhancements. And one such interesting feature is \u201cSharing the sales forecast with another user\u201d which may be within the user hierarchy or outside the hierarchy sharing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Scenario:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Open the Sales Hub app &#8211;&gt; navigate to App Settings &#8211;&gt; Forecast configurations &#8211;&gt; open any existing forecast set in your organization.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Let&#8217;s say I have the below user hierarchy set in my organization (used for demonstration):<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-31882\" style=\"border: 1px solid #000000; padding: 1px; margin: 1px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/1Dynamics-365-sales-forecasting.jpeg\" alt=\"Dynamics 365 CRM sales forecasting\" width=\"1523\" height=\"719\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/1Dynamics-365-sales-forecasting.jpeg 1523w, https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/1Dynamics-365-sales-forecasting-300x142.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/1Dynamics-365-sales-forecasting-1024x483.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/1Dynamics-365-sales-forecasting-768x363.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/1Dynamics-365-sales-forecasting-660x312.jpeg 660w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1523px) 100vw, 1523px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Sharing within the hierarchy:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For example, \u201cAlan Cook\u201d, the Sales Manager wants one of his direct reportee, \u201cChris Brown\u201d, to manage the forecasts while he is on sick leave.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He can share his forecast hierarchy with \u201cChris Brown\u201d with appropriate permissions. Depending on the permissions granted, \u201cChris Brown\u201d can view or adjust the forecast.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Sharing outside the hierarchy:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For example, \u201cAlan Cook\u201d, the Sales Manager wants one of his indirect reportee (not directly reporting through the hierarchy shown above), \u201cMike Owen\u201d, to manage the forecasts while he is on sick leave.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He can share his forecast hierarchy with \u201cMike Owen\u201d with the appropriate permissions. Depending on the permissions granted, \u201cMike Owen\u201d can view or adjust the forecast.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Configuring Sales Forecast:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You can refer to our previous <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/enhanced-configuration-steps-in-dynamics-365-sales-forecasting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blog<\/a><\/u> which explains how to configure sales forecasting in the organization.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In this blog let\u2019s explore below key configuration features in detail:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong> Providing the forecast access: <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While configuring the forecast, go to App Settings &gt; Forecast configurations &gt; open any existing forecast under the \u201cpermissions\u201d tab. That means in our example \u201cMike Owen\u201d, who is not part of the user hierarchy set in the organization cannot access the forecast unless purposefully \u201cAlan Cook\u201d, the Sales Manager shares the forecast record with him.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\" start=\"2\">\n<li><strong> Sharing the forecast:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While configuring the forecast, go to App Settings &gt; Forecast configurations &gt; open any existing forecast under the \u201cpermissions\u201d tab. He <strong>can view\/read<\/strong> the forecast but <strong>cannot edit<\/strong> it. This is the reason that the share button is not shown on the shared forecast above.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Revoking share access:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At any time \u201cAlan Cook\u201d can stop sharing the forecast simply by revoking the selected shared user record from the recently shared list.
