Introduction<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Recently when I was exploring the sales forecasting feature of Dynamics 365 sales, I came across many enhancements in Forecast configuration. Previously if you were trying to create any type of forecast (Org, Territory, and Custom) then it was restricted to Opportunity entity only.\u00a0Now you can observe that there is a flexibility to select Rollup entity for other than Opportunity as well.<\/p>\n

In my scenario, I have used Opportunity line entity as rollup entity as shown in the below screenshot:<\/p>\n

In the previous blog,<\/a> we have seen sales forecast experience through \u201cCreate from scratch\u201d. In this blog; let us have a walkthrough of the additional configuration steps available.<\/p>\n

Let us consider one scenario that I have implemented. If my organization would like to forecast or track the opportunity lines based on the product selected then I can implement it by selecting \u201cHierarchy Entity\u201d as Product.<\/p>\n

Using the Parent lookup on the product entity, the entire hierarchy of products is auto-selected as shown above.<\/p>\n

Here, I have observed there are few newly introduced configuration steps, namely, \u201cFilter Data\u201d, \u201cDrill Down\u201d and \u201cAdvanced\u201d as highlighted below:<\/p>\n

Note: \u00a0<\/strong><\/em>\u201cFilter Data\u201d, \u2018Drill Down\u201d and \u201cAdvanced\u201d<\/strong><\/em> these configuration steps <\/strong><\/em>are <\/strong><\/em>introduced in all types of forecasts (Org, Territory, Product, Custom).<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Let us quickly jump into these configuration steps as rest of the steps have already been explained in the previous blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Filter Data: <\/strong>This configuration is useful if you want to filter the forecast data based on any entity attribute.<\/p>\n

If you click on \u201cAdd filters\u201d above, you will get the following options – \u201cAdd row\u201d, \u201cAdd Group\u201d, \u201cAdd related entity\u201d.<\/p>\n

In the below scenario, I have demonstrated \u201cAdd row\u201d and \u201cAdd related entity\u201d filtering:<\/p>\n

With this condition, the opportunity lines are filtered as below:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Opportunity lines having Billing Method as the fixed price\u00a0removed from the forecast.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    AND<\/p>\n

    Opportunity lines having opportunities whose owner is set as \u201cSheryl Luis\u201d shown in the forecast.<\/p>\n

    \"Dynamics<\/a><\/p>\n

    Note: <\/em><\/strong>Once the forecast is activated, you cannot further edit the criteria for filtering.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Drill down: <\/strong>This configuration is useful if you want to break down the forecast data based on any other entity. It has two types – \u00a0\u201cDrill down by entity\u201d and \u201cDrill down by option set\u201d.<\/p>\n
