Earlier when we wanted to search a record in an entity, we used to do it through Quick Find search on the entity Grid.\u00a0 However, the 2020 Release Wave 1 new feature – \u2018Search this view\u2019<\/strong> – gives this capability on the grid. It now applies the current view conditions and then searches the fields that are configured in the Quick Find view definition.<\/p>\n

In short, when you use the ‘Search this view’<\/strong>\u00a0option on a grid page, the system searches for data only in the view that you’re currently in.<\/p>\n

To simplify this further, let me help you with an example for an Account entity:<\/p>\n

\u00a0Step 1<\/strong>: Navigate to the Account entity, and then select\u00a0My Active Accounts<\/strong>\u00a0from the list of views.<\/p>\n

Step 2: <\/strong>Select ‘Search this view’<\/strong>\u00a0to search for data in the view you’re in.<\/p>\n

Step 3: <\/strong>The system searches for data in the\u00a0My Active Accounts<\/strong>\u00a0view and displays search results by using the same set of columns that are used in your current view.<\/p>\n

To switch back to the old quick-find search experience that uses an entity’s Quick Find view definition to perform searches, you need to navigate to the Advanced settings in UCI.<\/p>\n

1) Go to Settings<\/strong> –>Administration<\/strong> –>System Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

2) On the General<\/strong> tab –>Set up<\/strong> Search <\/strong>–>Enable Quick Find record limits<\/strong> –>Select Yes<\/strong>\u00a0for\u00a0\u2018Use quick find view of an entity for searching on grids and sub-grids\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When you select yes, it will show the traditional Quick Find search in an entity Grid.<\/p>\n

Note<\/em><\/strong>: In order to use \u2018Search this view\u2019<\/strong> feature, make sure your environment is upgraded to Wave 1<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
