In Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2015 Security <\/strong>area is introduced which contains entities such as Users<\/strong>, Security<\/strong> Roles<\/strong> and Teams <\/strong>which were present in Administration <\/strong>area in previous versions of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.<\/p>\n

In this blog we are going to show how we can add Custom<\/strong> Buttons<\/strong> on Application<\/strong> Ribbon<\/strong> of Security<\/strong> area<\/strong> through Ribbon Workbench<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Take a scenario in which we want to add a custom button \u201cManage Users<\/strong>\u201d to the application ribbon which will be shown only on Security<\/strong> area<\/strong>.\"custom-button\"<\/a><\/p>\n

To achieve this, first we have created a new solution <\/strong>and added Application Ribbon<\/strong> to that solution from Add Existing <\/strong>option.\"custom-button1\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After adding the Application ribbon to the solution we have opened the ribbon editor and selected the solution.<\/p>\n

Then we have added a button <\/strong>named \u201cManage Users<\/strong>\u201d to the application ribbon<\/strong> in Home<\/strong> Page<\/strong> of Ribbon workbench.\"custom-button2\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Once we add the button, we need to add display rule to restrict the button from being visible on any other pages except for security.<\/p>\n

We have created a display rule<\/strong> which is of the type Page Rule<\/strong> for that button.\"custom-button4\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We have added the URL<\/strong> of the Security<\/strong> Area<\/strong> Page in Address<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n

The URL<\/strong> of Security area:<\/strong> \u00a0\/tools\/AdminSecurity\/adminsecurity_area.aspx\"custom-button5\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The XML of\u00a0 Display rule :<\/strong><\/p>\n

<PageRule Address=”\/tools\/AdminSecurity\/adminsecurity_area.aspx” \/><\/p>\n

After completing all above steps publish the changes.<\/p>\n

Now the custom button \u201cManage User<\/strong>\u201d is visible on the application ribbon which is shown for Security area only.\"custom-button5\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The same custom button \u201cManage User<\/strong>\u201d is not visible on any other areas such as Administration<\/strong> Area.\"custom-button6\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Note: <\/strong>Likewise, we can also use same approach to show custom button on the application ribbon for any other area of CRM like Administration area (URL: \u00a0\/tools\/Admin\/admin.aspx) etc.<\/em><\/p>\n
