{"id":1587,"date":"2015-08-14T12:45:17","date_gmt":"2015-08-14T07:15:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/?p=1587"},"modified":"2021-08-25T12:01:32","modified_gmt":"2021-08-25T12:01:32","slug":"adding-custom-button-on-security-area-in-dynamics-crm-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/2015\/08\/adding-custom-button-on-security-area-in-dynamics-crm-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Adding Custom Button on Security area in Dynamics CRM 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2015 <strong>Security <\/strong>area is introduced which contains entities such as <strong>Users<\/strong>, <strong>Security<\/strong> <strong>Roles<\/strong> and<strong> Teams <\/strong>which were present in <strong>Administration <\/strong>area in previous versions of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.<\/p>\n<p>In this blog we are going to show how we can add <strong>Custom<\/strong> <strong>Buttons<\/strong> on <strong>Application<\/strong> <strong>Ribbon<\/strong> of <strong>Security<\/strong> <strong>area<\/strong> through <strong>Ribbon Workbench<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Take a scenario in which we want to add a custom button \u201c<strong>Manage Users<\/strong>\u201d to the application ribbon which will be shown only on <strong>Security<\/strong> <strong>area<\/strong>.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/custom-button.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1588\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/custom-button.png\" alt=\"custom-button\" width=\"629\" height=\"258\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To achieve this, first we have created a new <strong>solution <\/strong>and added <strong>Application Ribbon<\/strong> to that solution from <strong>Add Existing <\/strong>option.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/custom-button1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1589\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/custom-button1.png\" alt=\"custom-button1\" width=\"629\" height=\"357\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After adding the Application ribbon to the solution we have opened the ribbon editor and selected the solution.<\/p>\n<p>Then we have added a <strong>button <\/strong>named \u201c<strong>Manage Users<\/strong>\u201d to the <strong>application ribbon<\/strong> in <strong>Home<\/strong> <strong>Page<\/strong> of Ribbon workbench.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/custom-button2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/custom-button2.png\" alt=\"custom-button2\" width=\"629\" height=\"297\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once we add the button, we need to add display rule to restrict the button from being visible on any other pages except for security.<\/p>\n<p>We have created a <strong>display rule<\/strong> which is of the type <strong>Page Rule<\/strong> for that button.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/custom-button4.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1592\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/custom-button4.png\" alt=\"custom-button4\" width=\"604\" height=\"354\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We have added the <strong>URL<\/strong> of the <strong>Security<\/strong> <strong>Area<\/strong> Page in <strong>Address<\/strong> field.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>URL<\/strong> of <strong>Security area:<\/strong> \u00a0\/tools\/AdminSecurity\/adminsecurity_area.aspx<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/custom-button5.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1593\" src=\"https:\/\/www.inogic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/custom-button5.png\" alt=\"custom-button5\" width=\"629\" height=\"313\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The XML of\u00a0 Display rule :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&lt;DisplayRules&gt;<\/p>\n<p>&lt;DisplayRule Id=&#8221;new.ApplicationRibbon.ManageUsers.DisplayRule&#8221;&gt;<\/p>\n<p>&lt;PageRule Address=&#8221;\/tools\/AdminSecurity\/adminsecurity_area.aspx&#8221;
